WHAT ARE CSPs?
CSPs are anyone
compiling sound and/or video recordings, for the purpose of
supplying to customers for public performance. These compilations
include such things as in-store sound systems, jukeboxes or
hard-drives for venues, restaurants and cafes.
This activity
requires a licence from PPNZ. The CSP licence is non-exclusive, and
supply to customers does not include sale or assignment of the
compiled programmes in any way. CSPs must adhere to strict criteria
in order to be licensed by PPNZ.
NB:
Any premises playing music in public supplied to them by a CSP is
also required to pay a
Public Performance Licence. Public Performance
Licences are not normally included in the fees CSPs charge to their
customers.
how to apply to be a csp
CSPs or
prospective CSPs must be supplying a minimum of 10 businesses before
being considered for a licence. There is also substantial financial
criteria such as advances and ongoing licence fees that CSPs must
satisfy in order to be licensed. For more detailed information or
